Job Summary:

The Program Assistant Clinical Laboratory-QMS will provide technical and programmatic assistance to support facilities in the State. Specifically work with facilities to implement accreditation preparedness and QMS. He/she will work with Tier leads, Cluster teams and SLOs to implement laboratory continuous quality improvement activities and ensure laboratory program targets are met and report and reported accordingly.

Description and objectives:

Under the supervision of the State Laboratory Lead, HoU lab QMS and HoD Laboratory, the Program Assistant Clinical lab -QMS will provide technical support, mitigation, monitoring, and evaluation., at the state level to implement high-quality laboratory program activities with a primary focus on laboratory technical areas of comprehensive HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, COVID-19 and NCDs program deliverables.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support, mitigation, supervision, and monitoring of laboratory field operations in the state.
  • Work with facility QA officers/ESM leads to monitor the quality of laboratory operations and testing in supported facilities.
  • Track the implementation of a Laboratory Quality Management System (LQMS)
  • Assist facility staff in overseeing day-to-day laboratory operations to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and ISO 15189 standards.
  • Support the QA officers to design and implement oversight practices, such as testing, inspections, working with site officers and state teams to prepare the labs for accreditation.
  • Prepare detailed reports for the unit and tracking return of EQA reports from facilities.
  • Collate, review and report facility reports (site visits, monthly/quarterly narrative, data, mentoring and supervision, etc.)
  • Ensure timely submission of laboratory deliverables and reports to the HQ.
  • Maintain effective communication with the IHVN Headquarters Laboratory department.
  • Perform every other duty necessary for the successful implementation of laboratory activities.

    • Previous experience in HIV program implementation, especially laboratory field activities, and Quality assurance is an advantage.

Job Summary:

The Program Officer Clinical Laboratory- Biotech Unit will assist the Biotech Unit Head in Biosafety cabinet (BSC) certification and in the installation, maintenance, and calibration of Laboratory ancillary equipment in IHVN-supported Laboratories. Make daily reports of day-to-day activities at the IHVN equipment calibration centre/workshop and update Laboratory equipment inventory.  

Description and objectives:

He or She will serve as the Biotech Engineer supporting equipment maintenance across supported Laboratories. S/He under the supervision of the HoU-Biotech and guided by the HoD Laboratory, is tasked with Biosafety hood certifications, support installation, upkeep, and calibration of ancillary laboratory equipment in IHVN-supported laboratories. The objective is to enhance and reinforce sustainable equipment maintenance, ultimately improving the functionality of equipment in supported facilities and the overall laboratory program.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in BSC Certification
  • Carry out installation, Testing, and calibration of laboratory ancillary equipment (Pipette microscope, Autoclave, incubator, freezers, refrigerators, etc.)
  • Carry out corrective, preventive and breakdown maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Train laboratory staff on the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Evaluate the efficacy, safety, and efficiency of laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain inventory for laboratory equipment and calibration tools.
  • Carryout equipment calibration at IHVN equipment Center/workshop

Required competencies.

  • Must be a graduate BSC, BTech or HND in Physic, Engineering, or any related field.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in installations, calibration and maintenance of Laboratory equipment.
  • Must have metrology certification.
  • NSF biosafety cabinet basic certification will be an added advantage.
  • Must be proficient in the use of data analytical software.

Job Summary:

IHVN is seeking a dedicated and passionate Study and Data Coordinator to join our team and play a crucial role in a groundbreaking project focused on improving HIV care and prevention among key populations through digital health interventions. The successful candidate will work closely with healthcare providers and key population civil society organizations to ensure the smooth execution of the project, as well as actively engage key population community members in the process.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day coordination and management of the digital health project for key populations.
  • Collaborate with the research team to develop and refine project objectives, timelines and deliverables.
  • Ensure that project activities are executed in compliance with ethical guidelines and regulations.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key population groups.
  • Conduct outreaches and community mobilization efforts to ensure active participation in the project.
  • Act as a liaison between the project team and key population communities to address concerns and facilitate communication.
  • Oversee the deployment of digital health interventions, including mobile apps and other technology-based solutions.
  • Support Data Officers in training healthcare staff and key population participants on the use of digital tools, monitor participant use of the digital health app, and ensure their ongoing engagement.
  • Work with the digital health app development team to develop and update app content, as well as troubleshooting issues.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of digital health interventions in improving HIV care and prevention.
  • Collaborate with data analysts to collect, manage, and analyze project data.

  • Work with data officers and data management staff to ensure that data submission, quality control (QC), error correction, data processing and entry are functioning smoothly.
  • Identify and follow up on delinquent data and serves  as back-up to the data manager.
  • Responsible for system/account maintenance for site staff to access the REDCap web portal and other data management applications. The CRS Coordinator will work with the CRC.
  • Conduct data quality assurance activities for the study sites:
    • Prepare regular progress reports and contribute to research publications.
    • Implement quality assurance measures to ensure that project activities meet established standards.
    • Conduct regular assessments and make recommendations for improvements.
    • Work closely with healthcare providers, researchers and community organizations to align project activities with broader healthcare initiatives.
    • Participate in team meetings and provide input on project strategies and goals.

Experience, skills and competencies  

  • Previous experience in coordinating research or healthcare projects, particularly in the field of HIV prevention or key population engagement.
  • Strong understanding of digital health technologies and their application in healthcare settings.

Job Summary:

Responsibilities:

  • Check for completeness in source documents and consistency between paper-based registers and the REDCap database.
  • Carry out daily manual data checks to verify completeness check for data errors against paper forms.

Senior Program Officer, Prevention, Care & Treatment | Central Office/HQ (Abuja), Plateau, FC

The Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria (IHVN), through funding from The Global Fund (GF), will be implementing the Grant Cycle 7 (GC7) grant, a combined TB &HIV effort pivotal to transforming TB & HIV programs. Under the leadership and coordination of the National AIDS and STDs Control Programme (NASCP), the National TB and Leprosy Control Programme (NTBLCP), and the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), this project will increase the identification of all forms of TB cases in the community and ensure prompt access to high-quality, patient-centred prevention and treatment through a Nationwide coverage of TB Public-Private Mix active TB case finding effort, and Community TB testing. The HIV component of the grant will focus on four states (Ebonyi, Anambra, Kwara, and Gombe) for end-to-end HIV comprehensive services, community PMTCT scale-up in all states,  PrEP in the four GF-supported states and in other states where PEPFAR IPs will be operating, and support harm reduction program (specifically needles and syringes) in 12 states. Other focus areas include Health Systems Strengthening/Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health (RSSH) and National level support activities.

Position Overview

The Senior Program Officer PCT will ensure high-quality Pediatric/adolescent and adult HIV Prevention, Care, and Treatment Services in the program.

Description and objectives:

Under the supervision of the Project Director, GF-GC7 Grant, the SPO will collaborate closely with Sub-Recipients, NASCP, and other relevant stakeholders to provide technical oversight of the Sub-Recipients’ day-to-day implementation of all HIV prevention, care, and treatment strategies toward achieving the UNAIDS (95-95-95) targets and providing guidance for program implementation according to the National Treatment Guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance to health care providers and sub-recipients to render effective and efficient quality of care to People Living with HIV (PLHIV)
  • Mentor healthcare providers to improve and maintain the standard of care through ongoing performance assessment and feedback.
  • Provide technical support for effective and efficient HIV/TB prevention and treatment services.
  • Build the capacity of healthcare providers for effective referrals and linkages.
  • Plan and review activities with sub-recipients, state and site staff, as well as other stakeholders in the state
  • Ensure TB/HIV collaborative activities are happening at facility and State levels.
