Statistical Methods in Epidemiology | OCTOBER, 2009

ABUJA NIGERIA (12TH – 23RD OCTOBER, 2009). In a bid to improve the quality of research carried out by health care providers in Nigeria, the Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria (IHVN), has collaborated with the University of Maryland/Fogarty and Aids International Training Program to train health care providers in Statistical Methods in Epidemiology.

The two-week training, which attracted 32 participants from IHVN supported sites in Nigeria, took place in the training hall of the Institute.

Through the use of slides, PowerPoint presentations, role play and interactive sessions, University of Maryland facilitators from Baltimore, USA drilled participants on the concepts in Epidemiology and Statistics, and how to analyze small data related to developed hypothesis with statistical software called the STATA.

At the end of the training, participants noted that the training has been beneficial as they have got insight into data analysis.
