Position: Clinical Associate (1 per site)

Our Institute is a leading provider of treatment, care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria and other infectious diseases with headquarters in Abuja and Regional offices in Benin, Jos, Kano and the Federal Capital Territory. We require competent and result-oriented candidates to fill the position above.

SUMMARY/OVERVIEW


• Serves as site quality of care ombudsman to ensure that all patients receive high quality comprehensive HIV/AIDS care and treatment as outlined by FMOH and IHVN guidelines and SOPs.

• Is present in clinic daily to participate in delivery of patient care and treatment.

• Identifies barriers to effective care.

• Identifies and manages solutions to address operational challenges.

• Serves as primary liaison between Site Program Coordinator, clinic staff, and focal persons, and IHVN. Successful candidates will be pro-active, results oriented, team-builders and have superior problem-solving and communication skills. .

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

• MBBS degree required.

• At least 2 years of post-NYSC experience in HIV/AIDS clinical care and programming is required.

• Post-graduate training e.g.Family Medicine is a plus. An MPH in public health or a solid foundation in Epidemiology is also a plus.

• High level of competence in data management, analysis and presentation.

• Familiarity with the Nigerian health system.

• Ability to communicate effectively, develop collegial relationships and work well as part of a team. .

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Ensure patients receive recommended standard of care at site for all thematic areas including adult and pediatric ARV treatment, OI management, laboratory investigations, adherence counseling, lost-to-follow-up patient tracking, PMTCT, care and support and home based care.

• Work with site staff, site focal persons and IHVN staff to effectively address operational challenges (including lab equipment breakdowns, pharmacy stock-outs, staffing shortages, training needs, commodity supply).

• Provide onsite clinical mentoring and technical assistance to clinic staff.

• Facilitate communication, collaboration, task-sharing and teamwork among clinic staff.

• Ensure strong linkages between the clinic, the laboratory, the TB program, the PMTCT clinic, the pediatric clinic, inpatient care and community outreach staff.

• Ensure that site and patient level data including clinical data, laboratory data and community data are collected and documented into appropriate registers and tools.

• Supervise site programmatic quality of care assessments.

• Coordinate weekly clinic meetings to discuss cases and/or programmatic issues with all site staff.

• Facilitate and attend meetings of monthly site Quality of Care (QOC) committees

• Support quality improvement activities developed by site QOC committees.

• Identify training and other needs assessments of clinic and staff.

• Conduct and provide reports on patient-level quality of care assessments and monitoring as directed by IHVN Director of Medical Services and Senior Technical Advisor.

• Provide monthly reports to IHVN Regional Manager, Director of Medical Services and Senior Technical Advisor.

• Participate in trainings and other programmatic activities as needed.

• Work closely with Project Coordinator and IHVN to coordinate inter-thematic cooperation in solving problems.

• Report to IHVN Regional Manager.
