SENIOR PROGRAM OFFICER (MEDICAL)

Our Institute is a leading provider of treatment, care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria and other infectious diseases with headquarters in Abuja and Regional offices in Benin, Jos, Kano and the Federal Capital Territory. We require competent and result-oriented candidates to fill the position above.

 

SUMMARY/OVERVIEW


• Provide technical support to IHVN staff and partner facilities in order to strengthen the health systems and to ensure quality integrated HIV and other diseases diagnosis, care and treatment

• Provide coordination for HIV care integration and decentralisation management, including service delivery, training and research.

• Assess clinical needs, and providing support and technical advice to ARV and TB HIV/AIDS supportive clinical services. .

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education/Experience:

Medical degree – MD, MBBS, BMChB or its equivalents with a Fellowship of the National/West African Postgraduate in Infectious Diseases/Physician; An MPH and at least 5 years in clinical practice and at least 3 years working experience in a HIV and TB or Malaria programme will be an added advantage.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Clear understanding of the health structure and HIV/AIDS environment of the country
  • Training skills: the ability to transfer technical and managerial knowledge and skills
  • Ability to be flexible and work well proactively in a team environment
  • Evaluation and data analysis skills; assessment, analysis and information synthesis to effectively produce written summary reports
  • Computer literate with proficiency in general office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); epidemiology and biostatistics program as a plus
  • Fluency in English .

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

• Planning and management of all medical activities in line with COP targets and guidelines

 

• Assist in the development of program strategies, work plans and their implementation

 

• Participate in cohort development, quality improvement, curriculum development, and data analysis

 

• Assist in the development, adoption and implementation of guidelines, tools and materials for use in the provision of ARVs at ACTION sites in Nigeria.

 

• Analyze and set targets for site based data on programme targets and quality of care and work with other programme officers and thematic areas to map out strategies to achieve set programme objectives and cover gaps identified

 

• Maintain current knowledge of HIV/AIDS standards and treatment development; conduct literature reviews for the development of tools or the provision of training curricula

 

• Identify training needs for continuous medical education both at the Program Office, Regional Office and at the program sites.

 

• Provide training, supportive clinical and programmatic supervision across ACTION supported sites

 

• In collaboration with other members of OCCP, prepare, budget and supervise the annual, quarterly and monthly activity plan on program implementation

 

• Representation and communication with internal and external partners

 

• Monthly reports on programme implementation as well as other activities outlined in the work plan and performance framework .
